Automatic Duplex Deburring & Chamfering Tool
• Chamfers & deburrs drilled holes both from front and back in one go
• Chamfering, immediately after drilling, with no changes either in job setting, spindle speeds or direction of spindle rotation. No special skill is required.
• Produces uniform chamfer
• Fully automatic – no manual interruption required even while back chamfering or retraction
• Easily adjustable blade projection permits increase and decrease in the chamfering width
• Long lasting, regrindable & interchangeable HSS blade • Available for hole dia 5 mm onwards
Normally, using a countersink tool or drill, the bottom side of a drilled hole is deburred or chamfered, after mounting the same job upside down. But with our Automatic duplex Deburring & Chamfering tool you can deburr and chamfer top and bottom edges of drilled holes in one go, without inverting the component. No change either in the spindle speed or in the direction of spindle rotation or in the job set-up is required. The tool can be deployed immediately after drilling. Neither manual interruption nor special operational skills are required at any stage of its use.
HOW IT WORKS?
On Manual Drills: On finishing the drilling operation, remove the drill and mount the chamfering tool to the machine spindle. Using the same clock-wise spindle rotation and speed, which you have used for drilling, just pass the tool through the drilled hole. As the tool enters the drilled hole, it removes all the burrs from the top of the hole and produces a light chamfer around the hole. If the burr is thick, you may need to hold the blade at the edge of the hole for a few seconds; On pressing the tool down harder, the blade slowly retracts inside the pocket, provided in the tool shank, as the cutting pressure increases. The blade gets slowly released from the pocket as the cutting pressure decreases. On blade clearing the hole, the blade pops out. Withdraw the tool without changing the spindle speed or direction rotation. When the tool retracts, it removes the burr from the bottom and produces a chamfer around the hole. The chamfers are uniform and concentric, since the tool is always guided through the bore.
On VMC/HMC: Run the tool at a Vc of 15-20 m/min (50 to 65 SFM) in clockwise direction. Move in rapid till the tool tool is 5 mm above the the job. Move in feed(Recommended 50 mm/min or 2ipm, till the blade’s bottom edge touches the top edge of the hole. Apply a dwell of few seconds to remove the burr. Move the tool in the hole at feed, till the blade projects out from the bottom of the hole. Move upwards in feed till the blades top edge is in contact with bottom edge of the hole. Apply dwell for few seconds to remove the burr from the bottom edge of the hole. Retract back in feed till the blade pops out of the shank. Retract in Rapid.
Note: Dwell time and feed can be adjusted based on a few trials, as per the requirement.

CONSTRUCTION & FEATURE
The tool consists of only 4 parts – shank, HSS blade, fulcrum-cum-lock screw and screw for adjusting blade projection. Both these screws are easily adjustable with a standard Allen key. Tool shank is made of alloy steel and heat-treated for wear-resistance. The holding end of the tool shank is cylindrical and gets mounted on the machine spindle through a collet or a drill chuck. The other end of the shank has a slot, which accommodates the blade. THE BLADE, having certain unique features, is made of high cobalt HSS. The cutting edge of the blade has a very long life. Depending upon he hardness of the job, cutting parameters and the other factors, the blade lasts thousands of jobs, before it gets ready for regrinding. The blade can be fixed, removed and adjusted to achieve the right projection easily in no time through an Allen key, even when the tool is mounted on the machine spindle. Spare blades are always generally available which are replaceable. The standard blade has 45º angle and it has two cutting edges for performing duplex chamfering operation. Different angle and /or single cutting edge can be provided on request.
TOOL ASSEMBLY
Keep the lock screw in loose condition. Place the blade in the slot. Keep tightening the Allen screw (screw for adjusting blade projection). Stop tightening the Allen screw as soon as the blade is correctly positioned in the slot and the required blade projection is achieved. Now tighten the lock screw. For releasing the blade, first loosen the lock screw and, then loosen the blade adjusting screw. THE BLADE PROJECTION can be increased or decreased through an Allen screw. Increase and decrease in the blade projection permits the tool to cover its optimum range. Increase in the blade projection also enables compensation for the blade wear-out.
For avoiding possible damage to the bore, a generous chamfer is provided on the tool shank at its entry side. Further, the projected hood of the blade and the other parts of the tool, which directly come in contact with the bore during operation are specially polished and devoid of any sharp corners. The user may take a small precaution of avoiding the possibility of a light scratches to the bore by keeping the minimum required blade projection and by rapidly and continuously inserting and withdrawing the tool through the bore. The robust construction, unique design features and heat-treatment process for wear-resistance make the tool and the blade highly enduring under the most trying cutting conditions. The blade can be re-sharpened, when its cutting edges get blunt.
SIZES AVAILABLE: From Ø5 mm to Ø22 mm. For sizes above Ø22 mm, we recommend our Automatic Duplex Back Chamfering Tool
VIDEO ON WORKING OF THE TOOL :-
AUTOMATIC DUPLEX BACK CHAMFERING TOOL
The duplex deburring & chamfering tool is offered for hole dia 5 mm to dia 22 mm. These tools are meant for deburring and creating a light chamfer around the bore. For heavy chamfers and for bore dia 23 mm and above, we recommend the Automatic Duplex Back Chamfering Tool. Two triangular or Square inserts are mounted on the wing – one for top chamfering and the other for bottom chamfering. In the anti-clock wise rotation, the tool enters the bore; in clockwise rotation, the wing opens up due to centrifugal force and chamfers. Pull the tool upward for top chamfering and push the tool down for back chamfering. Again in the anti-clockwise rotation, pull the tool gently out of the bore, as wing retracts into the pocket. The carbide inserts are standard, centre clamping type. tool enters the bore; in clockwise rotation, the wing opens up due to centrifugal force and chamfers. Pull the tool upward for top chamfering and push the tool down for back chamfering. Again in the anti-clockwise rotation, pull the tool gently out of the bore, as wing retracts into the pocket.
